Historic Structure Reports

Colman Building

Seattle

Based on my experience with historic properties, I was hired by a Seattle based architectural firm in order to document the damage from the 2001 Nisqually Earthquake. This historic office building was moderately damaged and required a through inspection for insurance purposes. I wrote an extensive report documenting the entire building for visible damage and used plans, photographs and detailed written accounts. I also made recommendations for repairs with particular attention to preserving materials so as not to lose any of the character defining features.

Morton Depot

Morton, WA

The Morton Depot is a two story wood frame structure built in 1910. The current owners plan on moving the building to a new location in order to rehabilitate the structure for future generations.

My report documented the depot from foundation to roof in order to preserve and retain the historic fabric before any work begins. The report documented methods and materials used in construction, photo documentation and recommended repairs.

I am one of the originators of a friends group which is still working with Washington State Parks to rehabilitate this 95 year old gem. My volunteer work included drafting a 50 page condition assessment report and designing a new concrete foundation.

Grand opening is set for spring 2004.
